Willie Fitzgerald’s short stories have appeared in StoryQuarterly, Boulevard, Prairie Schooner, Joyland Magazine, The Stranger and elsewhere. He was a 2022-2023 Writing Fellow at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, holds an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers at UT – Austin, and was the inaugural Mari Sabusawa Editorial Fellow at American Short Fiction, where he is now a contributing editor.

Willie is also the founder and former creative director of Authors, Publishers and Readers of Independent Literature (APRIL), a literary festival in Seattle that The Stranger called “everything a good book festival should be, with all the bullshit trimmed away.” His essays and reviews have appeared in The Stranger, City Arts Magazine, The Fanzine and elsewhere.

He lives in Austin, TX.
